5H40.10 Parallel wires-Repulsion

Long vertical parallel wires repel. Current goes down one wire and up the other.

Setup Requirements: Assembled as needed. Ask ahead of time. Battery may need recharging. Wiring has to be changed depending on whether rods attract or repel.

Equations: Force proportional to I x L x B.

Safety Issues: Mercury needed for electrical contact at lower end and allow movement of rods. High current. Use pushbutton switch to limit time current flows. Insulation may start smoking. Draws over 50 amps.
