1N20.20 Spring Apart Air Track Gliders

Burn a string holding a compressed spring between two air gliders. The gliders will move in opposite direction with same speed if have same mass.

Setup Requirements: Requires cleaning and leveling. Ask ahead of time.

 

Equations: By conservation of linear momentum sum of momentum = 0 before so sum of momentum must = 0 after.

 

Safety Issues: Carts may be damaged if fall on desk or floor.
