3A60.15 Tacoma Narrows Bridge Model

A model showing the torsional vibration that destroyed the Tacoma Narrows bridge is available to supplement the movie. This is not the type of resonance that is covered in introductory physics where an outside force feeds in energy at the right rate to cause the amplitude to increase. It is considered a self excited effect. It is like a classical resonance in that the effect builds up possibly to the point of breaking the bridge.
